About TaskSplice
TaskSplice is an AI and workflow automation company focused on helping businesses improve how work moves across their operations.
We design and implement intelligent workflow systems that connect business applications, automate repetitive processes, structure information, improve operational visibility, and apply AI where it creates practical business value.
Our work sits at the intersection of business process design, workflow automation, systems integration, and applied AI.
We are expanding our technical delivery capacity and are looking for a Senior AI & Workflow Automation Developer with strong n8n experience to support project-based engagements. The initial engagement will be project-based, with the potential for ongoing projects or a monthly retainer based on performance, delivery quality, and TaskSplice's future project needs.
The Role
This is a hands-on technical contractor role for someone who can take a defined business problem and turn it into a reliable, maintainable automation system.
You may work on solutions involving:
- Opportunity research and qualification
- Intelligent email and work intake
- AI-assisted classification and information extraction
- Discovery and meeting intelligence
- Sales-to-delivery handoffs
- Client onboarding workflows
- Operational monitoring and exception management
- CRM and project-management integrations
- Internal knowledge and RAG workflows
- Reporting and management automation
This role requires more than connecting nodes. We are looking for someone who can understand the underlying business process, identify missing requirements, design the workflow architecture, build the solution, account for failure conditions, test it properly, document it clearly, and prepare it for reliable handoff.
What You'll Do
- Design and build multi-step automation workflows primarily in n8n
- Translate business and functional requirements into technical workflow designs
- Integrate SaaS applications using native integrations, REST APIs, webhooks, and custom HTTP requests
- Build AI-assisted workflows using OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Gemini, or comparable LLM providers
- Design structured AI outputs for extraction, classification, research, summarization, routing, and decision support
- Implement validation, fallback logic, human review, and approval controls where appropriate
- Write JavaScript for data transformation, custom logic, API payloads, and workflow utilities
- Work with structured data, databases, spreadsheets, CRMs, and other business systems
- Build modular and reusable workflow components rather than unnecessarily monolithic workflows
- Implement appropriate logging, retries, failure paths, alerts, and recovery mechanisms
- Design safeguards against duplicate or unsafe downstream actions
- Test normal scenarios, malformed inputs, API failures, missing data, and relevant edge cases
- Troubleshoot API integrations, authentication, workflow logic, and data-mapping issues
- Maintain clear workflow and technical documentation
- Use Git/GitHub where appropriate for version control and supporting technical assets
- Participate in technical reviews, QA, project handoffs, and implementation discussions
- Communicate blockers, risks, assumptions, and technical tradeoffs clearly
- Potentially review or support work completed by junior developers as TaskSplice expands its delivery capacity
What We're Looking For
We care more about demonstrated capability and production experience than degrees, certifications, or job titles.
1. Strong Hands-On n8n Experience
You should have meaningful experience building n8n workflows for real business, client, employer, or production use.
- Triggers and webhooks
- HTTP Request nodes
- Expressions
- Conditional logic and routing
- Loops and batching
- Sub-workflows
- Code nodes
- Authentication and credential handling
- Execution debugging
- Error workflows
- Retry and failure handling
- Reusable workflow design
Experience limited primarily to tutorials, personal experiments, or very simple automations will generally not be sufficient for this senior role.
2. API & Systems Integration Experience
- REST APIs and webhooks
- JSON and HTTP methods
- Headers, request bodies, and query parameters
- API keys, access tokens, and OAuth
- Pagination and rate limits
- API error responses
- Data transformation and mapping
You should be comfortable reading API documentation and integrating a service even when a prebuilt n8n node is unavailable.
3. Applied AI / LLM Workflow Experience
You should have practical experience incorporating LLMs into automated business processes.
- Information extraction, classification, summarization, and research
- Lead or opportunity analysis and email drafting
- Meeting intelligence and RAG / knowledge retrieval
- Structured JSON outputs
- Tool or function calling
- Prompt design and output validation
- Fallback logic and human-in-the-loop workflows
We value candidates who understand both the capabilities and limitations of LLM-based automation. AI output should not automatically be treated as reliable simply because a model produced it.
4. Practical Coding & Data Skills
You should be comfortable using JavaScript for arrays and objects, data transformation, parsing, filtering and mapping, date/string manipulation, business rules, JSON manipulation, and API payload construction.
This is not a traditional full-stack software engineering role, but you should not be dependent exclusively on prebuilt automation nodes. You should also understand schemas, records and identifiers, data validation, deduplication, CRUD operations, relational data, and basic SQL concepts.
5. Production Reliability Mindset
- API failures and timeouts
- Retries and partial workflow failures
- Duplicate executions and idempotency
- Missing or malformed data
- Rate limits
- Logging and alerts
- Recovery procedures
- Workflow monitoring
A workflow that works only under perfect conditions is not production-ready.
6. Documentation & Maintainability
TaskSplice places significant value on documentation and handoff quality. Completed work should be understandable and maintainable by another qualified developer.
- Workflow purpose and architecture
- Integrations, inputs, outputs, and dependencies
- Required configuration and business rules
- Error-handling behavior and known limitations
- Testing notes, deployment/handoff instructions, and troubleshooting guidance
7. Security Awareness
You should understand responsible handling of API credentials, access tokens and secrets, client information, company-owned accounts, least-privilege access, 2FA, password managers, and sensitive information in logs, repositories, or documentation.
TaskSplice project work must be completed using approved systems, accounts, and security practices. Credentials or client-sensitive information must not be stored in personal notes, personal repositories, unsecured messages, or other unauthorized locations.
8. Git / GitHub
You should have working familiarity with repositories, commits, version history, basic branch and review workflows, README and technical documentation, and collaborative development practices.
Business & Professional Expectations
Technical ability alone is not enough for this engagement. We are looking for someone who:
- Thinks about the business process, not only the automation tool
- Asks clarifying questions when requirements are incomplete
- Identifies risks, dependencies, and edge cases early
- Communicates blockers before they become deadline problems
- Can explain technical decisions clearly
- Proposes better approaches when appropriate
- Does not silently change scope or assumptions
- Provides realistic estimates
- Takes ownership of assigned deliverables
- Tests work before submitting it for review
- Responds professionally to feedback
- Documents important decisions and implementations
- Can work independently without constant supervision
- Communicates consistently throughout an active project
There is a risk with this approach. Here is why, and here is what I recommend instead.
Preferred Experience
- Automation agency, consultancy, systems integrator, or implementation-firm experience
- Production automation work for external clients
- PostgreSQL or Supabase
- Python
- RAG architectures or vector databases
- CRM integrations
- Google Workspace and Gmail integrations
- Slack or Microsoft Teams integrations
- Project-management platform integrations
- Docker or self-hosted n8n
- Cloud infrastructure
- AI tool-calling or agent architectures
- Workflow monitoring and observability
- Reusable or configurable multi-client automation architectures
- Reviewing or mentoring junior developers
Experience Level
Competitive candidates will typically have meaningful professional experience in workflow automation, software development, systems integration, or related technical work.
As a general guideline, we expect approximately 3+ years of relevant professional technical experience, together with substantial hands-on workflow automation experience and strong n8n capability.
However, this is a guideline rather than a strict cutoff. A candidate with fewer years but strong production experience, excellent work samples, and demonstrated technical depth may be more competitive than someone with a longer resume but limited relevant delivery experience.
A computer science degree is not required.
Location & Working Arrangement
- Remote contractor engagement
- Preference for candidates based in Bangladesh
- Work may generally be performed according to the contractor's own schedule, subject to agreed project milestones and delivery requirements
- Some overlap with U.S. Central Time will be required for scheduled project reviews, technical discussions, and coordination
- Consistent written communication during active projects is expected
Contractor Engagement
This opportunity is structured as an independent contractor engagement, not U.S. employment.
The selected contractor will begin with a defined paid project engagement. Before work begins, TaskSplice and the contractor will agree on the project objective, scope, deliverables, milestones, timeline, acceptance criteria, compensation, documentation requirements, and communication/review process.
Contractors will be expected to invoice TaskSplice for approved services, work within TaskSplice-approved systems and accounts, follow security/access-control requirements, and sign applicable contractor, confidentiality, intellectual-property, and security documentation.
Strong performance may lead to additional project work or consideration for an ongoing monthly contractor retainer.
What Success Looks Like
- Functional: The workflow solves the intended business problem.
- Reliable: Failures, unusual conditions, and recovery paths have been considered.
- Maintainable: Another qualified developer can understand and support the implementation.
- Secure: Credentials and client information are handled responsibly.
- Documented: Architecture, configuration, dependencies, and operating requirements are clear.
- Tested: Normal scenarios and relevant failures and edge cases have been validated.
- Business-Aware: The implementation supports the operational objective rather than simply automating steps without understanding their purpose.
Selection Process
1. Application Review
We review relevant experience, work samples, technical background, communication, availability, and contractor fit.
2. Structured Interview
Selected candidates participate in a discussion covering previous work, technical reasoning, workflow architecture, communication, ownership, and security awareness.
3. Technical Evaluation
Finalists may complete a focused technical assessment designed to evaluate workflow design, implementation quality, AI integration, error handling, testing, documentation, and technical judgment.
4. Initial Paid Project
The selected contractor begins with a defined paid project engagement. Performance during this engagement will help determine whether TaskSplice offers additional projects or longer-term contractor work.
How to Apply
Please complete the official TaskSplice Contractor Intake Form.
Applicants should be prepared to provide a resume or CV, relevant portfolio or work samples, examples of previous automation work where available, information about n8n/API/AI/integration experience, availability and working-hour overlap, and contractor compensation expectations.
Strong work samples may include sanitized workflow screenshots, workflow diagrams, Loom or demonstration videos, GitHub repositories, case studies, technical documentation, or client/business project examples.
Security notice: Do not submit passwords, API keys, access tokens, client credentials, proprietary client data, or other sensitive information.
